What Is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder that affects 65 million people worldwide. Seizures in epilepsy sufferers are typically uncontrollable, unpredictable, and recurrent. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder caused by aberrant electrical activity in the brain that affects up to 1% of the US population. When the electrical activity in the brain becomes scrambled and uncontrolled, the messages within the brain become abnormal, resulting in seizures. Seizures can have a significant negative impact on a person’s quality of life. Fortunately, seizures and epilepsy are recognized as qualifying conditions for medical marijuana in Mississippi.
