Veteran Cannabis Support Program - Patients

Mississippi Veteran Cannabis Support Program

Applications Open NOW

If you are a Veteran (or the primary caregiver to a Veteran) who is interested in participating in the MississippiMedicalMarijuanas.com Veteran Cannabis Support Program (VCSP), please review the program information below for more details. If you would like to apply to be a part of the Veteran Cannabis Support Program, please fill out the application at the bottom of this page.

The Veteran Cannabis Support Program (VCSP) offers subsidies to prescribing physicians and dispensaries in exchange for them providing free & discounted services to the Veteran community. However, as the Veteran Cannabis Support Program is NOT a government program, and the subsidies are being covered personally by MississippiMedicalMarijuanas.com, there are limits in place.

These Include:

  • Prescribing Physicians are capped at 3 free medical cannabis certifications per month per physician
  • Dispensaries are capped at giving away $500/mo. ($50 each, to 10 Veterans)
  • *Veteran Discounts: Both prescribing physicians & dispensaries are also required to provide a minimum of 15% off Veteran discount to all Veterans with a VCSP ID Card to continue receiving their subsidies. So even if you are not able to get a free service from a participating business, you are still entitled to the VCSP discount. A new list of participating businesses will be provided to VCSP members each month, which will inform you of the current discounts being offered by each prescribing physician or dispensary.

Prescribing physicians & dispensaries will receive Veteran applications on a first-come, first-served bases. So if you are wanting to participate in the Veteran Cannabis Support Program, please make sure your application is submitted as soon as possible.

All Veterans who are approved for the VCSP will receive 15% off their cannabis purchases at participating dispensaries. Veterans who are approved to receive a $50 allotment from a dispensary, may only receive one $50 allotment per month. We are expecting a huge number of applicants, so we have to limit the number of $50 VCSP allotments to 1 per Veteran per month, to make sure as many Veteran applicants get help each month as possible.

No, we only ask for the DD-214 to verify that you are a Veteran. After you have been verified, the file is immediately deleted.

No. If they are a VCSP participating dispensary they have already committed to giving 15% off to all VCSP-verified Veteran members.

YES. For Veterans who are facing financial hardship, you have to be approved by each participating dispensary. We try to match you with a participating dispensary closest to you, and then submit your application to them. They will review the applications, and approve/deny each application based on a clear set of parameters we have given to each dispensary to help prevent anyone from gaming the system.

Those facing the worst financial hardship, or who need medical cannabis in order to be physically/mentally fit enough to seek out employment … will receive priority review.

Example #1:

A Veteran who is using medical cannabis because the cartilage in their knees have been blown out, or a disk has been ruptured, so they are in debilitating pain. They are a hard worker, and want to work, however this debilitating pain means they literally can not stand or sit for more than 2-3 hours at a time. As such, they have not been able to find or hold a job. However, with medical cannabis, they can now find work, and get back on their feet.

Example #2:

A veteran who is using medical cannabis because the cartilage in their knees have been blown out, or a disk has been ruptured, so they are in debilitating pain. Veteran #2 is facing financial hardship, but holds a steady job.

Who get’s the allotment?

In this scenario, while both Veterans need help, Veteran #1 would be chosen by the dispensary, as it would allow Veteran #1 to find employment. Employment means housing, food, & stability. It means one less homeless Veteran, or Veteran at risk of being homeless.

These are tuff decisions, and we can’t help everyone. But we are doing the best we can, with what we have, to get help to Veterans who need it the most.

Depends. Right now, the dispensaries will prioritize applications on a case-by-case basis (examples in the question above) each month. Being approved does not guarantee an allotment each month. However, if your primary dispensary is not capable of taking you that month, let us know, and we can see if another dispensary has availability left in their 10 slots to help.
